CONRAD - An amazing finish gave the Colo-NESCO baseball team a stunning 16-6 victory over BCLUW in six innings June 28 at Conrad.
After falling behind 6-4, the Royals outscored the Comets 14-0 over the fifth and sixth innings to end the game an inning early. They tied the score in the fifth, then went off for an incredible 12 runs in the sixth to improve to 11-9 on the season.
Colo-NESCO had eight hits and drew a whopping 19 walks on offense.
Kelly Gray was 3-for-4 with a walk, steal, two runs and four RBIs and Sean Cutler doubled, walked, scored three times and drove in a pair of runs for the Royals at the plate. Matthew Hill was 2-for-5 with a run, walk and RBI; Jacob Clatt singled, walked twice, stole a base and scored two runs and Ryan Banks finished 1-for-2 with three walks, three runs, two RBIs and a steal.
Bryce Niemeyer and Garrett Packer both drew four walks and scored a run, and Packer also picked up an RBI.
Gray was the winning pitcher. He threw three scoreless innings in relief, striking out two and giving up one hit and walk apiece. Shawn Gilbert surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and four walks with a strikeout in four innings.

ZEARING - Colo-NESCO made short work of Baxter in both games of a doubleheader on senior night June 27 at Zearing, outscoring the Bolts by a combined score of 30-4.
Colo-NESCO won the first game by a 13-2 score in six innings. The second outing was an even more convincing triumph, with the Royals winning 17-2 in four innings to push their Iowa Star Conference record to 8-6.
In the first game, Colo-NESCO scored twice in both the first and fifth innings, four times in the third and five times in the sixth to end the game early. The Royals finished with 13 hits and pitcher Bryce Niemeyer tossed a two-hitter to get the win.
Matthew Hill, Jacob Clatt and Mason Lytle each drove in four runs for Colo-NESCO in the first game. Hill went 4-for-4 with two doubles, Clatt doubled and homered and Lytle went deep once and also had a single.
Kelly Gray finished 2-for-3 with three runs and steals apiece, Sean Cutler ended up 2-for-4 with a run and Garrett Packer singled and picked up two runs, walks and steals apiece. Niemeyer only allowed one earned run; he struck out seven and walked two in six innings.
The nightcap saw Colo-NESCO take advantage of eight walks and Baxter defensive mistakes. The Royals also had seven hits.
Colo-NESCO scored two times in the first inning, went scoreless in the second, then blew the game open. The Royals plated seven runs in the third and eight in the fourth to end the game on account of the 15-run rule after four innings.
Sean Cutler was outstanding in the second game. He went 3-for-3 with a double, walk and six RBIs at the plate and was the winning pitcher after giving up one earned run on three hits and two walks with one strikeout going all four innings.
Gray singled, walked, scored two times and stole two bases; Lytle singled, walked, scored three times and drove in a run; Ryan Banks was 1-for-3 with two runs and RBIs apiece and Philip Bower singled and scored. Hill walked twice, scored four times and picked up a steal and an RBI; Clatt drove in a run and stole a base; Niemeyer scored twice; Packer walked three times, scored and stole a base; Luke Hill scored two times and Jack McKinney crossed the plate once.

DUNKERTON - Colo-NESCO rallied from two runs down to get past Dunkerton, 6-5, June 25 at Dunkerton.
The Royals found themselves down 5-3 going into the sixth inning. They tied the game in the top of the inning, kept the Raiders off the board in the bottom and scored in the seventh to move in front.
Shawn Gilbert kept Dunkerton off the board in the bottom of the seventh to give the Royals the win and push them to 8-9 overall and 6-6 in the Iowa Star Conference.
An RBI single from Kelly Gray tied the game for Colo-NESCO in the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Mason Lytle walked, stole two bases and scored the eventual winning run on a single from Jacob Clatt.
Gray was 1-for-2 with a run, RBI, walk and two steals; Clatt went 1-for-4 with an RBI; Ryan Banks singled, walked and scored; Matthew Hill singled, walked twice and stole a base and Lytle walked, swiped three bases and scored two times. Philip Bower drove in two runs, Garrett Packer stole a base and scored, Jack McKinney picked up a run, Bryce Niemeyer walked once and Luke Hill stole a base.
Gilbert threw 1 ⅓ scoreless and hitless innings with two strikeouts and no walks as the winning pitcher. Niemeyer gave up two runs — one earned — on two hits and a walk as the starting pitcher, Sean Cutler allowed one run on a hit and a walk with four strikeouts in two innings and Brighton Clatt surrendered two runs, hits and walks apiece going 1 ⅔ innings.
Jackson Hoeft took the loss for Dunkerton after allowing one run, hit and walk apiece with a strikeout in 1 ⅓ innings of relief. Tace Johnson singled and drove in two runs and Brady Stone doubled and picked up an RBI for the Raiders.
