GRINNELL — The Nevada girls’ golf team just missed pushing an individual through to state after placing eighth out of 12 teams during the Class 3A regional girls’ golf meet at the Oakland Acres Golf Club in Grinnell.


Nevada’s Emma Griffin came in just two strokes shy of making it to state. The top eight individual scorers advance, and Griffin placed ninth with an 18-hole score of 90.


Griffin carded two nine-hole rounds of 45. Kelby Rewerts shot rounds of 48 and 52 to finish right at 100 as Nevada’s No. 2 golfer.


Nora Anderson and Grace Cahill turned in the other counted scores for Nevada. Anderson shot a 113 with rounds of 56 and 57 and Cahill shot a 53 out and 62 in to finish with a 115.


Caroline Ausman shot a 54 out and 62 in to just miss the Cub scoring cut with a 116. Ashlyn Sporrer shot rounds of 64 and 59 to card a 123 for Nevada.


Gilbert’s Britta Snyder was the meet medalist with a 69 and Grinnell’s Alisha Ford medalist runner-up with a 75. Gilbert’s Katie Jenkins and Alli Austin turned respective scores of 81 and 84, Grinnell’s Bella Amador-Lacson, Maddie Schrack and Madison Elliott shot a 77, 87 and 88 respectively and Perry’s Alyssa Kruger also turned in an 88 as the individual state qualifiers from the meet.


Nevada shot 418 as a team. Gilbert and Grinnell were the two teams to qualify for state with respective scores of 327 and 333.

AMES — Nevada placed second in a triangular meet with Gilbert and Newton May 15 at the Coldwater Golf Links in Ames.


Nevada shot a 420 over 18 holes. Gilbert dominated the meet with a score of 327 and Newton shot a 434.


Emma Griffin carded a 91 and Kelby Rewerts a 93 to lead Nevada. Griffin turned in rounds of 46 and 45 and Rewerts shot a 49 and a 44.


Nora Anderson scored a 116 with rounds of 60 and 56 and Caroline Ausman delivered two rounds of 60 to shoot a 120 as the other scored Nevada golfers. Grace Cahill was just over the scoring cut with a 121 as she shot a 61 and 60 and Bridget Patterson turned in two rounds of 65 to finish with a 130 for the Cubs.


Gilbert’s Britta Snyder was the meet medalist with an impressive six-under-par 64. The Tigers’ Alli Austin was medalist runner-up with an 83.
