TAMA — The Nevada girls’ golf team turned in a fourth-place performance at the South Tama Invitational Saturday at the Toledo Country Club.


Nevada shot a 405 over 18 holes to beat Newton by four strokes, South Tama by seven and Benton Community by 18. Grinnell won the seven-team competition with a score of 345, Pella shot a 384 to take second and Vinton-Shellsburg came in third with a 389.


Emma Griffin tied for eighth place and Kelby Rewerts finished just outside the top 10 individually for Nevada.


Griffin carded a 92 with rounds of 47 and 45. Rewerts shot rounds of 42 and 52 to finish with a 94.


Nora Anderson scored a 107 with rounds of 53 and 54 and Caroline Ausman a 112 with rounds of 55 and 57 to complete the varsity scoring for Nevada. Grace Cahill added a 134 with two rounds of 67 and Ashlyn Sporrer had rounds of 72 and 70 to score a 142.


Grinnell’s Bella Amador Larson was the medalist with an 80. The Tigers’ Alisha Ford took medalist runner-up with an 83.

JEWELL — Nevada took fourth out of five teams during the South Hamilton Invitational May 10 at the Jewell Golf and Country Club.


Nevada shot a 411 over 18 holes to beat North Polk by 22 strokes for fourth. The Cubs came in just five strokes behind South Hamilton’s third-place score.


Emma Griffin turned in nine-hole rounds of 50 and 43 to finish sixth individually with a 93 for Nevada. Kelby Rewerts delivered rounds of 52 and 51 to score a 103, Caroline Ausmon shot a 105 with rounds of 53 and 52 Nora Anderson put up a 110 with rounds of 53 and 57 to complete the Cub scoring.


Grace Cahill also competed for Nevada. Cahill shot a 119 with rounds of 58 and 61.


Gilbert won the team title with a 344 and Roland-Story took second with a 399. Gilbert’s Britta Snyder dominated the meet individually with a three-under-par score of 69, and the Tigers’ Katie Jenkins was medalist runner-up with an 84.

AMES — Nevada had one golfer shoot under 50 over nine holes in a quadrangular meet with Gilbert, Roland-Story and South Hamilton Tuesday at the Ames Golf and Country Club.


Nevada shot a 217 as a team over nine holes to place fourth. Emma Griffin turned in the top individual score for the Cubs with a 49.


Kelby Rewerts carded a 54, Nora Anderson a 56 and Grace Cahill a 58 as the other scored Nevada golfers. Caroline Ausman just missed the scoring cut with a 59 and Ashlyn Sporrer finished with a 69.


Gilbert won the team title with a 165. The Tigers’ Britta Snyder easily won medalist with a one-under-par 35 and Katie Jenkins was medalist runner-up after shooting a 42.
