CLINTON — Southeastern Community College's baseball team came into the Region XI tournament as the top seed.

But the Blackhawks' run ended on Sunday afternoon with a 5-3 loss to DMACC in an elimination bracket game at Ashford University Field.

DMACC scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to end the season for SCC, which finished 46-13.

DMACC (28-27) will play Kirkwood for the tournament title on Monday. The Bears will have to win two games for the championship, while Kirkwood only has to win one.

DMACC took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, then SCC broke through with a run in the fourth. Justin Hutter's two-out infield single scored Marcos Sanchez.

The Bears scored a single run in the top of the fifth inning, then SCC tied the game in the bottom of the inning.  Sanchez's single to right field scored Julian Fernandez, who was hit by a pitch to open the inning. Dayson Croes scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3.

DMACC took the lead in the seventh off losing pitcher Josh Rawlinson (2-1). Morgan Holmes hit a double down the left-field line, bringing in Matt Krambeck.

The Bears tacked on a run in the eighth. Calen Schwabe grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring Denver Blinn.

SCC had seven hits in the game — three by Hutter and two by Sanchez.

Luke Longmuir (4-2) was the winning pitcher.
