MARSHALLTOWN - Going up against mainly larger schools for the second time in three meets, the Nevada girls’ golf team came in 11th out of 13 teams at the Linda Bloom Invitational at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course in Marshalltown.


Nevada shot a 428 over 18 holes. The Cubs defeated the only smaller school at the meet, Grundy Center, by 15 strokes and Fort Dodge by 84.


Waukee claimed the event title with a 328 and Ankeny Centennial edged Grinnell, 354 to 355, for second.


Emma Griffin wound up 36th overall individually with a 101 as the top Nevada golfer at the meet. Griffin recorded nine-hole rounds of 55 and 46.


Grace Cahill delivered a 106 with rounds of 56 and 50 and Nora Anderson shot a 108 with a 57 and 51 for Nevada. Ashlyn Sporrer turned in the final counted score of 113 with rounds of 59 and 54.


Caroline Ausman also shot a 113 with nine-hole scores of 53 and 60. Bridget Patterson carded rounds of 59 and 57 to finish with a 116.


Ankeny Centennial’s Tenley Moretti was the meet medalist with a 71. Waukee’s Brooke Boardman earned medalist runner-up with a 75.

NEVADA - Nevada took fourth during a home quadrangular meet at the Indian Creek Country Club April 24.


The Cub girls shot a 225 over nine holes. Humboldt won with a 196, Ballard took second with a 212 and Greene County shot a 213.


Emma Griffin led Nevada with a 48. Ashlyn Sporrer carded a 56, Caroline Ausman a 60 and Nora Anderson a 61 to complete the Cub scoring.


Ballard’s Lauren Smith was the meet medalist after shooting a 45.

AMES - Nevada took 10th out of 12 teams going up against field of bigger schools at the Turk Bowman Ames Invitational April 23 at the Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.


Nevada shot a 475 over 18 holes to beat Mason City by two strokes and Fort Dodge by 99. Waukee won the meet with a 384, Atlantic took second with a 410 and Ames shot a 420 to place third.


Emma Griffin finished 19th individually as the top Nevada performer. Griffin shot a 56 out and 52 in to finish with a 108.


Caroline Ausman recorded a 119 with rounds of 61 and 58, and Ashlyn Sporrer and Grace Cahill each carded a 124 as the other golfers to turn in counted scores for Nevada. Sporrer shot a 64 and a 60 and Cahill delivered rounds of 61 and 63.


Nora Anderson finished with rounds of 67 and 61 to score a 128 and Bridget Patterson shot a 66 out and 64 in to record a score of 130.


Atlantic’s Alyssa Ginther was the meet medalist with an 88. Waukee’s Megan Seiler carded a 93 as the medalist runner-up.
