ELDORA - The Colo-NESCO track teams both came in sixth at the South Hardin Coed Invitational Friday at Eldora.


The Royal boys scored 69.5 points to beat out AGWSR by 7.5 points and Gladbrook-Reinbeck by 54.5. Iowa Falls-Alden and Madrid tied for the team championship with 158 points.


The Colo-NESCO boys won the shuttle hurdle relay. Matthew Hill, Devin Reed, Kelly Gray and Philip Bower teamed to run a time of one minute, 5.78 seconds to beat Denver by one second for first.


Bower won two silver medals and Gray and Hill picked up one bronze medal apiece individually for the Colo-NESCO boys.


Bower and Gray came in second and third in the long jump. Bower jumped 18 feet, 3.75 inches and Gray 18-3.25. Iowa Falls-Alden’s Chad Miller jumped 18-7 to win the event.


In the 110-meter high hurdles, Bower ran a time of :16.48 to trail only the :15.96 run by Madrid’s Tyler Miller.


Hill jumped 5-8 in the high jump. Iowa Falls-Alden’s Timmothy Long and Devin Sheridan tied for first after both jumping 5-10.


The Royal boys’ 4 X 800 relay team just missed a medal by placing fourth. Gray, Jack McKinney, Sean Cutler and Brighton Clatt joined up to run a time of 9:16.44.


Devin Reed added a fifth-place time of :16.97 in the 110 highs. Cutler came in sixth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:09.31 and Colo-NESCO’s sprint medley team of Trevor Burg, Alex Grover, Braden Thomas and Jacob Reischauer also took sixth in 1:58.33.


The Colo-NESCO girls scored 48 points to beat Columbus Catholic by eight points and Gladbrook-Reinbeck by 20 for sixth. Iowa Falls-Alden dominated the girls’ competition with 200 points and Madrid took second with 114.


Lauryn Hill was crowned the girls’ high jump champion for Colo-NESCO. Hill cleared 5-1 to beat the 4-10 by Iowa Falls-Alden’s Jenny Wibholm for first.


Lindsey Riese won a silver medal in the 100 hurdles with a time of :17.63. Iowa Falls-Alden’s Katie Meyer won with a time of :16.75.


Gracie Kettwig won a bronze in the shot put and McKenzie Meyer took third in the long jump for the Royal girls.


Kettwig’s best throw of 32-6 came behind the 43-7.5 of South Hardin’s Brylie Zeisness and the 34-5.5 by Madrid’s Hailey Gadbaw. Niemeyer’s peak jump of 13-8 placed her behind Iowa Falls-Alden’s McKenzie Barr (15-3) and AGWSR’s Alyssa Hames (13-10.5).


Faith Vincent placed fifth in the long jump for Colo-NESCO with a 13-4.25 effort. The Royal distance medley team of Jane Caltrider, Hill, Niemeyer and Vincent also took fifth in 5:15.00.


Riese, Caltrider, Hill and Vincent took sixth in the sprint medley with a time of 2:07.95.
