COLO - The Colo-NESCO girls’ basketball team couldn’t contain the hot outside shooting of Roland-Story in a 57-36 loss to the Norse Saturday in Colo.


Roland-Story, the No. 6 team in Class 3A, drained 12 of 28 shots from beyond the arc, improving to 19-2. Colo-NESCO, rated No. 15 in 1A, only shot 27 percent overall from the field and the Royals were outrebounded, 32-24, falling to 16-4.


Roland-Story led 28-14 at the half. The Norse continued to have their way in the third quarter, building a 21-point lead to slam the door on Colo-NESCO.


Faith Vincent had 12 points, five steals and two assists for Colo-NESCO in the loss. Rylee Purvis had seven points, six rebounds, two assists and one block and Molly Barten added seven points and rebounds apiece, plus two assists.


Lauryn Hill chipped in four points and two assists, Chelsea Henze three points and four rebounds and Emma Stalzer three points for Colo-NESCO.


Jenna Clark hit six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points and Susie Weaver drained three 3-pointers and scored 15 points for Roland-Story. Juliann Clark tacked on four points, six rebounds and eight assists for the Norse.

BAXTER - A good shooting night helped Colo-NESCO blow past Baxter, 69-32, Jan. 30 at Baxter.


The Royals made 55 percent of their field goals and 10 of 15 free throws, going to 16-3 overall and 10-0 in the Iowa Star Conference South Division. Colo-NESCO led 32-15 at the half, then outscored Baxter by 12 in the third to wrap things up.


Rylee Purvis was on fire individually for Colo-NESCO.


Purvis netted a game-high 25 points after making 11 of 14 field goals and her only 3-point attempt. She also had five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.


Faith Vincent had a terrific all-around game for the Royals with nine points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals. Molly Barten went for 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and one block and Lauryn Hill 10 points, three steals, two assists and one block.


Chelsea Henze chipped in seven points, four rebounds and two steals and Emma Stalzer and Megan Carlson each scored two points for the Royals.


Baxter fell to 3-15 overall and 2-8 in the conference. Jordynn Wesselink had 11 points and five rebounds, Holly Jessen eight points and two assists, Sophie Meyer five points and three rebounds and Sailor Hinegardner three points and four assists for the Bolts.
