DES MOINES - The Colo-NESCO scored a big cross-division win over Dunkerton, 47-35, in a battle of top Iowa Star Conference South and North teams Monday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.


The Royals, the top team in the South Division of the ISC and rated No. 15 in Class 1A, built a 24-14 lead at the half and held on against the ISC North Division power. Colo-NESCO rebounded nicely from a loss to BCLUW over the weekend, improving its record to 14-3, and Dunkerton fell to 13-3.


Faith Vincent went for 23 points, four assists and three steals for Colo-NESCO. Molly Barten had eight points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals and Lauryn Hill seven points and four rebounds.


Chelsea Henze chipped in three points, four rebounds and four assists and Rylee Purvis two points, five rebounds and two steals. Emily Hostetler and Emma Stalzer each added two points for the Royals.


McKayla Boeschen led Dunkerton with 14 points. Kaitlyn Wilder hit three 3-pointers and scored nine points and Mady Howland and Hannah Jacobsen chipped in four points apiece for the Raiders.

CONRAD - Colo-NESCO couldn’t quite overcome a rough stretch during the second and third quarters in a 51-46 non-conference loss to BCLUW Saturday in Colo.


The Royals (13-3) jumped out to an 18-9 lead, but they were outscored 33-15 over the next 16 minutes of action. BCLUW moved in front 26-22 at the half and increased its lead to nine points entering the fourth quarter.


Colo-NESCO regrouped for a solid final push, but it wasn’t enough to get over the hump.


The Royals had an off shooting night, making only 29 percent of their field goals. They were also outrebounded by a 35-28 margin.


Colo-NESCO did make seven 3-pointers and shot the ball well from the line (7 of 10). The Royals also had seven steals defensively.


Rylee Purvis stepped up with 19 points and 13 rebounds for Colo-NESCO in a losing effort. Purvis made four 3-pointers and she also had one steal.


Faith Vincent had 17 points, three steals, three rebounds and two assists before fouling out. Molly Barten chipped in five points, seven rebounds and one block; Chelsea Henze three points, three assists, two steals and one block; Emily Hostetler two points and Lauryn Hill four assists and one block.


Lauren Anderson scored a game-high 23 points and added seven rebounds, four steals and one block to help BCLUW go to 8-8. Madison Ubben tacked on 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists and one block for the Comets.

TAMA - Colo-NESCO used a strong first half to get past Meskwaki, 46-42, for an Iowa Star Conference South Division victory Friday at Tama.


The Royals led 32-20 at the break after a 20-point second quarter. They increased their lead to 43-30 after three quarters, then withstood a fourth-quarter slump to go to 8-0 in the ISC South Division.


Faith Vincent made four 3-pointers and had 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the win for Colo-NESCO. Molly Barten added a double-double with 10 points and rebounds apiece; Rylee Purvis delivered six points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal and Chelsea Henze drained two 3-pointers and totaled six points, six rebounds and three assists.

ANKENY - Colo-NESCO used strong offensive rebounding and steady shooting to oust Grand View Christian, 56-44, Jan. 16 at Ankeny.


The Royals corralled 13 offensive boards and 39 total rebounds. They also shot 43 percent from the field — just under three percentage points better than their season average — improving to 12-2 on the season.


Colo-NESCO led 25-20 at the half. The Royals upped that lead to eight points after three quarters, then pulled away in the fourth.


Faith Vincent turned in another big game for Colo-NESCO in the win. She went for 22 points, making three 3-pointers and adding five steals, four assists, four rebounds and one block.


Rylee Purvis put up 14 points, eight rebounds and one block and Lauryn Hill had 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal. Molly Barten finished with four points, 12 rebounds, one steal and one assist; Chelsea Henze had three points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals and Emily Hostetler tacked on two points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist.
