CEDAR CITY, Utah — Southern Utah's Manny Berz kicked a 36-yard field goal with 1:50 left in the game to lift the Thunderbirds to a 24-21 victory over the University of Northern Iowa at Eccles Coliseum on Saturday night.

UNI trailed 21-10 entering the fourth quarter but rallied to tie the game at 21-21. Trevor Allen caught a 21-yard screen pass from Eli Dunne with 8:08 left in the game. Briley Moore caught a 2-point conversion to pull UNI within three. 

Austin Errthum drilled a 30-yard field goal with 5:37 remaining to even the score at 21-21. The Errthum score was set up by a 38-yard interception return by linebacker Jared Farley.

UNI freshman Xavior Williams, a graduate of Notre Dame High School, started at cornerback for the Panthers. He finished with three tackles and broke up two passes.
