CLARKSVILLE - The Colo-Nesco baseball team broke out of a funk with a 4-2 victory over Clarksville Monday at Clarksville.
Bryce Niemeyer turned in a quality outing on the mound and the Royals totaled seven hits in improving to 3-15-1 overall and 2-11-1 in the Iowa Star Conference.
Niemeyer tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts and three walks to get the victory. He also went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Matthew Hill was 2-for-4 with a run as the top hitters for Colo-Nesco.
Kelly Gray singled, walked and scored, Garret Tiarks singled and scored and Philip Bower doubled for the Royals.
Chris Behrends gave up one earned run with eight strikeouts and no walks in a losing effort for Clarksville. Matt Nelson went 3-for-3 with a double, run and RBI for the Indians.

GILBERTVILLE - Colo-Nesco was done in by a rough start in a 14-2 loss to Don Bosco in five innings Friday at Gilbertville.
The Royals gave up four runs in the first inning and seven in the second. The Dons added three more scores in the fourth to put the game away early.
Colo-Nesco’s lone run came in the first inning. Mason Lytle singled and drove in Matthew Hill, who drew a walk.
Sean Cutler, Garret Tiarks and Ryan Banks each came up with one hit for Colo-Nesco. Hill was the losing pitcher after allowing 11 runs - just two earned - on eight hits with one strikeout and walk apiece in two innings.
Mason Lytle allowed three runs on two hits and two walks in one inning and Kelly Gray threw one scoreless inning with no hits or walks allowed.

ZEARING - A bad night at the plate proved costly for Colo-Nesco in an 8-1 non-conference loss to Roland-Story June 15 at Zearing.
The Royals only recorded two hits during the game. Their only run came in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Roland-Story put up three runs in the first inning, one in the third and four in the fourth. Brighton Clatt was the losing Colo-Nesco pitcher after allowing eight earned runs on six hits and seven walks with one strikeout in five innings.
Shawn Gilbert gave up one hit and one walk with one strikeout in two scoreless innings of relief for the Royals. Matthew Hill doubled in a run, Kelly Gray scored and Garret Tiarks singled once on offense.
Zach Twedt struck out five and walked two in five innings to earn the win for Roland-Story. Nathan Bell was 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI for the Norsemen.

ZEARING - Colo-Nesco wasn’t able to overcome a shaky first inning in a 10-6 Iowa Star Conference loss to GMG June 14 at Zearing.
GMG put up five runs in the opening frame. Colo-Nesco pulled within 5-3, but the Wolverines answered with three more runs in the top of the fourth.
The Royals came back with three runs over the next three innings to close within 8-6, but GMG put up two runs in the seventh and blanked Colo-Nesco in the bottom of the inning to wrap up the victory.
Matthew Hill allowed five runs - four earned - on three hits with one strikeout and walk apiece in ⅓ of an inning as the losing pitcher. Sean Cutler surrendered five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and walks apiece in six innings and Mason Lytle tossed ⅔ of a scoreless inning with two walks and one strikeout.
Cutler went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBI and Hill was 2-for-2 with a double, run and RBI with the bat for Colo-Nesco. Jacob Clatt went 1-for-4 with an RBI, Kelly Gray singled and scored, Bryce Niemeyer singled once and Brighton Clatt walked and scored a run.
Conner Stonewall went 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two runs and three RBI for GMG. Darrin Anderson was 3-for-4 with two steals and three runs.
Andrew Thurston was the winning GMG pitcher. Thurston gave up six runs - two earned - with six strikeouts and four walks in 5 ⅔ innings.

ELDORA - Colo-Nesco was hurt by a pair of bad innings in a 12-2 non-conference loss to South Hardin in six innings June 13 at Eldora.
The Royals allowed four runs in the second inning as South Hardin built a 7-1 lead. Colo-Nesco scored once in the top of the sixth, but the Tigers came back with five runs in the bottom of the inning to end the game early.
Matthew Hill tripled, walked, stole a base, scored and drove in a run for Colo-Nesco. Garret Tiarks singled, stole a base and scored, Philip Bower singled and stole a base and Jacob Clatt singled once for the Royals.
Bryce Niemeyer gave up 12 runs - seven earned on - 10 hits with five walks and two strikeouts in 5 ⅓ innings as the losing Royal pitcher. Mason Lytle struck out one and gave up one hit and one walk in ⅓ of a scoreless inning.
Seth Lindaman struck out nine and surrendered two earned runs on four hits with one walk in six innings as the winning South Hardin pitcher. Lindaman also doubled and drove in two runs, Tanner Lawrence was 3-for-4 with one run and three RBI and Kolten Rewoldt finished 2-for-3 with two runs and RBI apiece for the Tigers.

TRAER - Colo-Nesco had a rough time against North Tama in a doubleheader June 12 in Traer as the Royals were swept by a combined score of 32-1.
North Tama finished off a suspended game with a decisive 22-1 triumph in four innings. The Redhawks had 14 hits to just three for Colo-Nesco.
Garret Tiarks went 2-for-2, Mason Lytle singled, Jacob Clatt drove in a run and Kelly Gray walked, stole a base and scored for Colo-Nesco. Sean Cutler gave up 10 earned runs on seven hits with three walks in one inning as the losing Royal pitcher.
Cael Kopriva was 3-for-3 with two doubles and six RBI for North Tama in the win. Joe Earley was the winning Redhawk pitcher after allowing one earned run on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in two innings.
Colo-Nesco dropped the nightcap by a 10-0 decision in five innings. Lytle tripled and Gray and Bryce Niemeyer each singled for the only Royal hits in the game.
Shawn Gilbert allowed six runs - four earned - on five hits and two walks with one strikeout in two innings as the losing pitcher. Brighton Clatt surrendered four runs - two earned - on five hits and a walk in two innings of work.
Will Earley struck out eight with no walks going all five innings to get the win for North Tama in the second game. Cameron Hoeg was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for the Redhawks.
