ADEL - For the third time in four years the Nevada girls’ golf team is headed to the state meet after winning the Class 4A regional meet at the River Valley Golf Course near Adel Monday.

Nevada shot a 374 over 18 holes to beat Creston by four strokes for the team victory. Both teams advanced to the 4A state meet.

“I am very proud of the effort and preparation that our girls put into making this a reality,” Nevada head girls’ golf coach Mike Lawler said. “I really felt like the preparation we did throughout the season paid off today. We played a lot of difficult courses and this was our eighth 18-hole event this season. These girls have developed the stamina and the mindset to really play strong in these situations. They have worked so hard and have been so dedicated to what we’re doing and I’m just incredibly happy for them to have achieved this success. They really earned this one. Hopefully we can keep it going for another week.”

Senior Claire Ausman will be golfing at state for the fourth year in a row. Ausman was the medalist and an individual state qualifier at River Valley after turning in a strong 18-hole score of 82.
