TAMA - The Nevada girls’ golf team concluded a busy week by winning the South Tama Invitational Saturday at the Toledo Country Club in Tama.
The Cub girls shot a 361 over 18 holes to win the tournament by nine strokes over Grinnell. Vinton-Shellsburg took third out of six teams with a 382.
Claire Ausman was medalist runner-up for Nevada with an 82. Grinnell’s Bella Amador-Lacson was medalist after shooting an 81.
Ausman put up a 42 on the front nine and a 40 on the back. Emma Griffin turned in the second-best Cub score with an 88 after shooting nine-hole scores of 46 and 42.
Chloe Davis carded a 92 with rounds of 47 and 45. Brittny Bottorf came up with a 99, shooting rounds of 49 and 50 as the final scored Cub golfer.
Kelby Rewerts added a 105 and Maddie Sly a 111 as the other varsity golfers for Nevada.

POLK CITY - Nevada dominated a triangular with Greene County and North Polk May 11 at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City.
The Cubs shot a 176 over nine holes to beat Greene County by 56 points for the victory. North Polk didn’t qualify for team scoring with only three golfers participating.
Claire Ausman and Chloe Davis tied for medalist honors after each carding a 39 for Nevada. Emma Griffin shot a 44 and Brittny Bottorf a 54 as the other counted varsity golfers for the Cubs.

AMES - Great balance helped Nevada knock off Gilbert to win a nine-hole triangular meet with the Tigers and North Polk May 9 at the Ames Golf and Country Club.
The Cubs had four golfers shoot a 46 or better, scoring a 171 as a team. That was good enough to beat Gilbert by nine strokes for the win, with North Polk scoring a 251.
Nevada also beat its performance the day before at the Ames Golf and Country Club by an impressive 29 strokes.
Claire Ausman was medalist runner-up with a 38 to lead the Cub girls. Chloe Davis shot a 42, Emma Griffin a 45 and Kate Griffin a 46 as the other scored Nevada golfers.
Brittny Bottorf and Kelby Rewerts also participated for Nevada. They each shot a 52.
Gilbert’s Britta Snyder was medalist with a 35.

AMES - Nevada took second in a triangular meet with Gilbert and South Hamilton at the Ames Golf and Country Club May 8.
Nevada shot a 200 over nine holes to finish 15 strokes behind Gilbert’s winning score. South Hamilton finished with a 210.
Claire Ausman finished with a 44 and Chloe Davis a 48 to lead Nevada. Kelby Rewerts and Brittny Bottorf each put up a 54 as the other scored Cub golfers.
Gilbert’s Britta Snyder shot a 38 and the Tigers’ Katie Jenkins finished with a 43 as medalist and medalist runner-up respectively.
