MARSHALLTOWN - The Nevada girls’ golf team turned in another strong showing against larger schools at the Linda Bloom Invitational April 27 at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course in Marshalltown.


The Cubs shot a 363 over the 18 hole tournament to place third out of 14 teams. Nevada is a Class 3A school and the majority of teams competing were from 5A, including the top two finishers in Waukee (342) and Ankeny Centennial (351).


Claire Ausman, Chloe Davis and Emma Griffin all placed in the top 12 individually for Nevada.


Ausman shot an 83 to place fifth. She put up a 43 in and 40 out.


Davis tied for 10th with an 89. She turned in nine-hole scores of 47 and 42.


Griffin carded a 90 to tie for 12th overall. Griffin scored a 46 on the front nine and a 44 down the backstretch.


Savannah Kyle was the final scored Cub golfer with a 101. Kyle shot 49 in and 52 out.


Kelby Rewerts just missed the scoring cut for Nevada with a 103. Madison Huynh also played well, scoring a 107.


Ankeny Centennial’s Tenley Moretti was the medalist of the Linda Bloom Invitational with an impressive score of 74. Waukee’s Brooke Boardman was medalist runner-up with a 77.
