MONROE - The Nevada boys’ soccer team won for the third time in four games with a 1-0 road victory over Prairie City-Monroe April 13 at Monroe.
The Cubs prevailed despite getting off just four shots on goal. Brendan Sellberg scored off an assist from Carter Bremer for the only goal on the night and the Nevada defense took care of the rest.
Keeper A.J. Strottman made seven saves to help Nevada pick up its third shutout. The win put the Cubs at 4-3 on the season.
ALLEMAN - Nevada used strong defense and a consistent attack to pull off a 1-0 victory over North Polk April 10 at Alleman.
Nevada got off 14 shots on goal and keeper A.J. Strottman made 10 saves. An unassisted goal by Devin See accounted for the only scoring on the night.
Anthony Ellis finished with four shots on goal and See and Brendan Sellberg totaled three apiece for Nevada. North Polk keeper Christopher Martinez made nine saves and Alec Boletta recorded the only three shots on goal for the Comets.
