ELDORA - A new school record provided the big highlight the Colo-Nesco girls’ track team at the United Suppliers Invitational Friday in Eldora.


Lauryn Hill set a Colo-Nesco record in the girls’ high jump after clearing five feet, two inches to win the event at the United Suppliers Invitational. She beat out the 5-0 effort by both AGWSR’s Bethany Lippert and Aplington-Parkersburg’s Megan Johnson for the gold.


As a team, Colo-Nesco took sixth out of 10 schools with 61.5 points. The Royals picked up two other gold medals at the meet.


Angela Brinkman won the 400-meter hurdles. Brinkman finished in one minute, 15.40 seconds to outlast the 1:16.04 run by Grundy Center’s Baylee Potkins.


Colo-Nesco also took first in the 4 X 200 relay. Rylee Purvis, Hallie Riese, Lindsey Riese and Rylie Reischauer ran a 2:00.54 to win the race by 1.22 seconds over West Marshall.


West Marshall won the team championship with 145 points. Aplington-Parkersburg was second with a score of 98.
