To the editor:
Threshold Learning Center was visited by some of Nevada’s finest on July 8. The Nevada Community Resource Center came for a day field trip of hiking, crafts, games, s’mores and work. WORK?!? That doesn’t sound like fun…
You see, a week earlier Zearing was hit by a massive storm. TLC was hit the hardest, with nearly half of our trees broken, downed or even uprooted. All of the trails we were going to enjoy while the group was here were covered in debris. Since the leaders wanted the kids to do team-building and conservation activities, we decided that maybe they could help with clean-up. They cleared ALL of our trails on the east side of the creek! More importantly, they did it with hard work, smiles, some singing at points, getting dirty and little to no complaining.
We can’t thank the students and their fine leadership from the NCRC enough! We saw the devastation and didn’t know where to begin — your group came and helped, cheered us up and gave us hope. I wanted everyone in Nevada to know what great community members you have in your youth!
Thank you! Thank you!
