To the editor:

Nevada residents have an opportunity to recognize those individuals or organizations that have done great things for our community. The Story County Alliance for Philanthropy recognizes outstanding individuals, groups or businesses for their contributions to their communities. I would encourage you to consider nominating those individuals or organizations for the 2013 Story County Alliance for Philanthropy Award. Nomination forms are due June 28, and can be obtained by going to www.storycountyphilanthropy.org and filling out the form and/or submitting it in person at the United Way of Story County office, located at 315 Clark Ave. in Ames.

It is a way to show our appreciation for all that has been accomplished by these individuals or groups. The Nevada Community School District has been privileged to have a community that really cares. We could not do it without your support.

Over the years, the following groups have been recognized by the Story County Alliance for Philanthropy: Nevada High School Key Club – Outstanding Youth Philanthropist 2012 ; Josephine Tope Community Auditorium Capital Campaign Committee - Outstanding Group Volunteer Fundraiser 2011; Jim and Clare Frevert - Outstanding Family Philanthropist 2009; Burke Marketing – Outstanding Business/Corporate/Foundation Philanthropist 2009 and Central Elementary K-Kids - Outstanding Youth Philanthropist 2009.

There are many more individuals/groups/organizations that have done great things for our school district and/or our community; please consider nominating them for the 2013 Story County Alliance for Philanthropy Award.
