To the editor:

OLLI - Osher Lifetime Learning at Iowa State University’s (formerly College for Seniors) motto is "Learning Never Ends" and if you haven’t looked at the new fall catalog for classes, lectures and trips on http://www.isualum.org/olliatisu or called 515-294-3192, you are missing out on friends and fun. You are also missing the chance to update your learning for the 21st Century. It is college for the joy of learning with no tests or homework, no reports or papers to write, no public speaking, free parking and a complimentary ticket to the Central Iowa Symphony for the performance of your choice. No affiliation with ISU is required. Gift certificates for anyone 50 years and over make a perfect gift for seniors who have everything.

OLLI began in September 1993 as College for Seniors with four classes and 120 students. Today there are up to 30 classes with three sessions per school year, five to seven free lectures, and so far, registration this fall of 571 seats filled for 30 classes, with six classes full.

A membership is $25 (with a free ticket valued at $20), and class fees vary, depending on the number of classes in a course, trip costs or class supplies.

A 20th anniversary of OLLI at ISU Gala is being planned for Friday, Oct. 4, from 2-4 p.m. in the Reiman ballroom, ISU Alumni Center. Please come and enjoy memories of past classes, a short program and a dessert coffee with friends of OLLI. This will be a celebration open to all who may be interested in learning more about this program and how much it has to offer. What are you waiting for? OLLI membership and classes make a great gift for you or for someone you know. Christmas is coming.
