To the editor:

I just returned from Gates Hall, where the community honored Jim Walker, retiring superintendent of schools, for his years of service to the Nevada School District. A large crowd was in attendance and Mr. Walker was acclaimed for his good works, high principles and integrity. The presentations by members of the school board, principals and the public, at the very best, was a classy ac,t as was Mr. Walker’s response.

While there I was able to talk with Todd Willert, the disposed administrator of our Story County hospital — a gracious gentleman who threw no blame at anyone. Inquiring about the status of the Mercy physicans who service Story County hospital, I was pleased to hear they are still treating patients here in Nevada. It would have been nice if our Story County hospital board would have honored Mr. Willert in the same manner that the Nevada school board honored Mr Walker. This was not the case, and shows the Story County hospital board very inept in appreciating Mr. Willert’s 19 years of service.
