To the editor:
Story County is one of the best run counties in the state in my opinion. From the days of Rick, Paul and Wayne as supervisors, Story County has seen growth, while maintaining the assets that we already have.
The loss of Paul Toot was a great one. His integrity and intelligence are missed terribly on every level. It is my belief that there was not a better option to carry on that integrity and intelligence than Marty Chitty. Marty had some big shoes to fill, but I believe he has done that to the best of his ability.
I was also sorry to see Wayne Clinton leave the board — especially with the turmoil that his replacement has caused. But I believe Rick Sanders has done an outstanding job maintaining the order and responsible management of the board. Story County continues to grow, while operating under a balanced budget for the sixth year in a row. That’s success that can’t be denied.
As of Oct 2, Linda Murken had missed six out of the last nine board meetings. Josh Opperman has yet to attend even one, near as I can tell. Yet they both claim to be ready to grow Story County and manage taxpayer money efficiently. How can they claim to do that when they aren’t even learning how to do it beforehand?
On Nov. 6, please consider giving your vote to Rick and Marty, rather than placing the county into unqualified hands. Story County is already in good hands, for the most part. Let’s keep it that way.
