William Gary “Bill” Stone, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Marshalltown, died Monday, March 19, 2018, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born January 12, 1931 in Nevada, the son of I. R. “Jim” and Leona (Wood) Stone. Bill married Frances Pryor on March 30, 1951 in Nevada. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2007. Bill was a 1949 graduate of Nevada High School and a 1953 graduate of Drake University in Pharmacy. He was a pharmacist at Tipton Drug Store and later with the Osco Drug Store chain for many years. Bill was a member of the Iowa Barn Foundation, the Izaak Walton league of Marshall County, and the Marshalltown Bird Club.


He is survived by his two daughters, Kris (Gary) Bamber and Kim (Matthew) Zahari, both of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Will Bamber and James Bamber, Lana (Chet) Loveland Weddle, Lindsey (Jeff) Loveland Hamilton, and Luke Zahari; four great grandchildren, James and Madison Weddle, and William and Isaac Hamilton, and many nieces and nephews.


Bill was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a daughter, Kay Stone Loveland; a grand daughter, Lynn Bamber, and three brothers and their wives, Jimmie and Thelma Stone, Paul and Midge Stone, and Robert and Nancy Stone.


Services will be 10:00 a.m. April 7, 2018, at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, with inurnment at a later date at Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service, with lunch and fellowship following the service.
