Helen (Moser) Black, 87, of Nevada, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.
Helen was born August 20, 1929, in Humeston, Iowa the daughter of Leo and Carrie (Feight) Moser. She graduated from Fernald High School in 1947 and was united in marriage to Loy Black at the United Methodist Church in Nevada on December 22, 1948. Helen was a homemaker and worked as a library aide for the Nevada School District. She was a 4-H Garden Leader and active in the horse department. Helen was an avid card player and was involved in many card clubs playing Cribbage and 500. She enjoyed writing poetry, quilting, gardening, bowling, horses and reading. Helen loved spending time with her grandkids, playing board games and doing puzzles.
Helen is survived by her four children: Michael (Joan) Black of Nevada, Rick Black of Nevada, Sheryl (Brian) Birchmier of Maxwell and Suzanne (Terry) Reams of Windsor, CO; nine grandchildren: Michelle (Adam) Gibson, Derrick (Shellie) Black, Jerrad Black, Chris Mechtel, Tyler Longren, Kyle (Madison) Longren, Jessica Birchmier, Evan Reams and Matthew Reams; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Moser) Olson and one brother-in-law, Maynard Johnson.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Loy in 2011; a grandson, Shane; a brother Merle Moser and two sisters: Mildred Lange and Marjorie Johnson.
Private burial of cremated remains will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
