At the Dec. 3 meeting of the Nevada Kiwanis Club, Jason Grimm introduced Jim Dane. Jim is a member of the Iowa City Kiwanis Club and is district chair for the Kiwanis Eliminate Project. Eliminate is a worldwide Kiwanis project to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Kiwanis Clubs worldwide will raise $100 million dollars to aid UNICEF with this project. Jim told the club that since 2010, $40 million has already been raised with tetanus eliminated in 13 countries. There are 26 more countries to go. It is interesting to note that the cure for tetanus was discovered in 1924, but there are still many Third World countries where it isn’t available. Thank you, Jason and Jim, for this emotional program.
