Local farmers harvested the Nevada FFA soybeans recently.
"With the good fall days shortening up, we wanted to move quickly on harvest," said Kevin Cooper, FFA advisor.
Jeff and Jim Collins harvested the Heartland field, with 203 bushels coming off the seven acres. Heartland field will need six bushels per acre from the crop insurance. One week later, Jim and Steve Owen harvested the FFA DOT fields along Maple. The measured acres yielded 455 bushels of soybeans. All the soybean seed was donated by Patrick Sheets, local Nevada Pioneer Seed dealer. The FFA has renewed the DOT lease for the 2014 crop year. Heartland field operation will be continued in 2014 also.
