Four Nevada FFA members have been putting in extra time getting ready for the Iowa FFA Floriculture Contest. They have identified over 130 indoor plants and flowers, practiced making corsages, worked through various financial scenarios that would be encountered in business and are also studying propagation and pest management. Several local businesses have provided resources, including Holub Greenhouses, the Flower Bed in Nevada and ISU Extension Service, which has provided copies of commercial pesticide application manuals. The contest will be held at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
