The 2014 Iowa State Dance Team Championships will be held at Wells Fargo Arena and HyVee Hall on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Friday, Dec. 6. There will be over 5,000 participants representing 278 high school dance teams and color guards. Routines will be performed and judged in several categories: pom, jazz, lights, hip hop, lyrical, hoopla, prop, kick, show production, color guard, all-male and coed.
The teams are judged by an expert panel of judges from across the United States. The judges’ scores are based on appearance, choreography, execution, technique and general effect/showmanship. Teams will be awarded Division I, II, and III ratings, along with trophy placements for those teams with the highest point totals.
The doors open at 7 a.m. for spectators. The competition begins at 8 a.m. each day, with awards at approximately 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per day or $18 for a two-day pass. The Nevada Dance Team members perform their pom routine on Thursday, Dec. 5, in HyVee Hall at 11:26 a.m. and their jazz routine in Wells Fargo Arena at 8:22 p.m. The Nevada flags perform on Friday, Dec. 6, in HyVee Hall at 9:06 a.m. Please come out and support the Cubs!
