Discover the mysteries of the dark at the park! Follow Naturalist Heather Hucka on a journey to understand just what it takes to be a creature of the night on Friday, Aug. 22, at McFarland Park (56461 180th St.) northeast of Ames. The event takes place from 8:30-10 p.m.

Test your senses and practice talking with the owls. Capture this unique opportunity to see McFarland Park through lightless eyes. This hike is not intended to be scary, but to excite your imagination.

This is a family-friendly event; however, it is not intended for strollers. If you wish to bring a flashlight, please cover it with red tissue paper. The hike will start at the conservation center and participants are asked to dress for the weather and wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes.
