On Sunday, Sept. 8, over 100 members and friends of Memorial Lutheran Church participated in a Day of Service to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Members chose from six different service activities to provide two hours of service in the middle of the worship service. Groups spread out to sing hymns at two care centers, do yard work at Evergreen Lane and for individuals, hang clothes and clean at the Harmony Clothing Closet, package meals for Outreach, Inc., create denim quilts for Nevada’s Angel Tree and prepare a meal for everyone at the conclusion of the service. The worship service concluded after the two hours of service by celebrating communion and sharing lunch. Memorial joined the other nearly 9,000 ELCA congregations across the United States to celebrate the anniversary with service in an effort called "God’s Work, Our Hands."
