Phase 1 of the project, which began Sept. 9, was awarded to McAninch Corporation of Des Moines. This phase will include construction of the dam embankment for the new lake, rough grading of roads and campground area and construction of the three wetlands. It is hoped that phase 1 will be completed no later than June 30, 2014, and Story County Conservation anticipates that construction will be completed later this fall. Phase 2 bids are to be let late this fall. Phase 2 will include construction of the campground, shower/restroom facility, boat ramp and picnic shelter. (Photo Submitted by Story County Conservation.)
