Lincoln Highway on the west side of Nevada near the future DuPont site will remain open until sometime next week, according to the latest update.
Shawn Cole, building and zoning administrator with the City of Nevada, said the contractor has delayed the temporary closure of the highway, which was most recently scheduled for the week of Sept. 23. The highway needs to be closed to traffic to allow improvements to be made where the highway intersects 590th Avenue. Such improvements include adding turning lanes to better accomodate vehicles turning onto 590th Avenue to get to DuPont.
When the highway does become closed, it will be for approximately one month. Westbound motorists will be detoured south along Airport Road (West 18th Street) to Highway 30, and then back north on 580th Avenue to Lincoln Highway. Eastbound motorists will take 580th Avenue south to Highway 30 before heading back north on Airport Road (West 18th Street).
Questions regarding the highway’s closure can be directed to City Administrator Elizabeth Hansen, 382-5466, or City Engineer Larry Stevens, 515-278-2913.
