A reminder to local residents that Central Elementary School in Nevada will be the site of a benefit meal and auction this Sunday, Nov. 17, for Nile Morris, who will be 2 on Dec. 12. Morris is the son of Corey and Melissa Morris of Ankeny, who are both natives of the Zearing and Colo area. Nile’s grandparents are Larry and Claire Hall of Nevada and Alan (Pete) and Marsha Morris of Nevada. Nile has two older siblings, Brady and Carly. On Aug. 26, Nile was admitted to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, where he was diagnosed with a rare disease, Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. This disease occurs when the body accumulates too many immature Langerhans cells, a subset of the larger family of cells known as histiocytes. He has been receiving chemotherapy for two months and has not been home since his admission. On Sunday, a meal will be served by The Country House restaurant starting at 5 p.m. A free-will donation will be accepted for the meal. At 6 p.m., a live auction will begin. For those unable to attend the benefit, but still wishing to make a donation, you may send those directly to: River Valley Credit Union, Corey and Melissa Morris, 2811 East 13th St., PO Box 747, Ames, IA 50010-0747.
