There will be a Babysitting Basics Class on Friday, March 21, at the Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., in conference room 135. The class begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. The class is open to fifth- and sixth-graders who are interested in becoming babysitters, or becoming more prepared and informed babysitters. There is a $25 fee for materials and the deadline for signing up is March 14.
Participants will learn about the responsibilities of a babysitter, what employers expect, and how to care for infants and toddlers. There will also be guest speakers teaching on the subjects of age-appropriate toys and activities, safety and basic first aid and rescue breathing. For questions about Babysitting Basics, contact the ISU-Story County Extension office at 515-382-6551 or email Michelle Deupree at email@example.com.
