The Story County Opioid Task Force would like to welcome members of Story County and the surrounding counties to attend Part II of its Community Conversations.

The event, hosted by Mary Greeley Medical Center, will be held Nov. 15 at the Bessie Meyer Auditorium, located at 1111 Duff Ave. in Ames, from 7-8:30 p.m.

The Community Conversations is a three-part series bringing information to the patrons of Story County, and surrounding counties, about the present opioid epidemic in Iowa. During Part II of this event series, families will share their personal stories and experiences with the opioid epidemic, and how it has affected their lives.

The third part of the Community Conversations will be held on Jan. 10, 2019, from 7-8:30 p.m., at the same location. Part III will have guest speakers Jen Barber with Mery Greeley, Story County Attorney Jessica A. Reynolds and Austin Cross of Primary Health Care providing information about how to access treatment and the civil committal process.

Community and Family Resources offers substance abuse, mental health and problem gambling treatment and prevention services. Counties served by CFR include Boone, Calhoun, Franklin, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Story, Webster and Wright. In Fiscal Year 2017, CFR offered treatment services to 3,000 individuals and offered prevention services to schools, businesses and community groups, reaching 13,000 individuals.
