Lucy Martin, Story County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, reminds eligible residents of important deadlines for the upcoming Nov. 6 general election.
• Saturday,oct. 27 is the deadline to pre-register to vote for the upcoming general election.voter registration forms must be in the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. Following the preregistration deadline, voters follow Election Day Registration procedures and must cast a ballot when registering. Saturday is also the deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot for the general election. Written requests must be received in the auditor’s office by 5 p.m.
• In-person absentee voting is available in the Auditor’s Office through Monday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m.
• The auditor’s office is open Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
• The general election will be held on Nov. 6. Polling place hours are 7 a.m.-9 p.m. On election day, voters must vote at their assigned residential precincts.
