American Legion Auxiliary members from Nevada Unit 48 attended the Fall District Conference in Pleasantville on Sept. 30. Pictured from left to right are Ann Kurtenbach, Catherine Harrell, Christine Lloyd, Mary Jo McLaughlin, Judi Blair and Beth Lycke.
The Nevada members volunteer many hours helping our veterans and military families, serving youth, Girls State, scholarships and our community. Ann served as the district chairman of the audit and budget committee, Catherine is serving on the department membership team and gave an award to the unit achieving the highest membership in the District this year. Mary Jo, the district leadership chairman, had attended the National Convention in August and gave a report on improving leadership skills.
In the past year, this great patriotic women’s organization reported over seven million hours of volunteer service across the nation, and in other countries where women are serving. The Nevada unit is looking for new members, from young girls to older to help in our mission. The young girls can earn patches for activities that they do. For information on how you can help or become a member, contact our unit president, Sheila Cruse, 515-339-5936.
