American Legion Auxiliary Unit #48 members attended the 98th Annual Convention of the American Legion Auxiliary that was held at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo the weekend of July 13-15.
Cassie Harrell is thrilled to be assigned a position on the 2018-2019 Department Membership Committee. She will lead three counties in Iowa toward attaining membership goals for the new year and attend their conferences. Mary Jo McLaughlin is the 2018-2019 junior activities chairman for the department. She will be promoting programs for juniors throughout the state this year, attending junior conferences and helping the honorary junior department president as she prepares for the 2019 convention.
Installed as the new department president is Mary Sebben from Waukee, her theme is “Honoring Our Veterans’ Legacy;” her symbol is the U.S. flag; her colors are red, white and blue; and her projects are The Veterans Creative Arts Festival and Gold Club. The Nevada Unit looks forward to the new year and invites girls and women with a veteran in their family (this could be either a spouse, a parent, a brother, a sister, or grandparents or great-grandparents) to join our Auxiliary. Stop by the American Legion on Sixth Street for more information or call our new president, Sheila Cruse, at 515-339-5936.
