The Colo City Council approved $20,622.50 to re-route a sewer line running under the fire station’s driveway. The new line will run onto Bailey Street and alleviate the issues of sewer lines freezing during colder weather.

In other news, the city will be reconstructing culverts between Fourth and Sixth Streets along Bailey Street to improve storm water drainage.

The council also approved funds to be transferred from the general fund to its capital equipment fund. This fund is designed to purchase equipment, such as fire apparatus and lawnmowers.

Fire Chief Dennis Clatt also mentioned that the Colo Fire Department has been transporting more rescue calls to Mary Greeley from the eastern side of Story County. The department is also looking into options to improve the air conditioning in their ambulance to make a more comfortable treatment environment for both potential riders, as well as first responder personnel.

The council approved a $1,000 donation to Bob Daley to be used toward the annual Twin Anchors Independence Day fireworks display.

The next regular City Council meeting will be held July 2 at 7 p.m.
