The Ministry Endowment Board of Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, is seeking community project proposals. In 2018, the board will award $33,788 to creative and innovative projects that serve community and world.

Since 2010, Memorial has awarded $283,100 in grants to local, national and international service projects such as a community garden, Kids Against Hunger, Matthew 25 House in Ames, Harmony Clothing Closet of Nevada, Raising Readers of Story County, Honduran Tools for Opportunity and Many Hands for Haiti.

“We have a bias for projects that serve the overlooked and the neglected,” Chairperson Mary Pappas said. “We also value small projects, because they often bring big change.”

Grants come from Memorial Lutheran’s Endowment Fund, which receives “legacy gifts” from members and friends. The fund is designed to make grants each year to worthy projects in the congregation, in the Story County area and globally.

The deadline for 2018 applications is Friday, Aug. 3, at noon (CDT). An electronic version of the application form is available by e-mail from office manager Jodi Schuman at memluth@midiowa.net. Grants will be awarded on Sunday, Oct. 28.
