Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa received a $6,000 community grant from Story County Community Foundation (SCCF) to provide GoldieBlox STEM Kits to their 33 troops serving grades K-five in Story County. The focus of the STEM kits is to provide programming for girls from kindergarten to grade five, to earn mechanical engineering badges utilizing a team approach.

“When participating in STEM programs, girls learn problem-solving skills that help them throughout their lives,” commented Beth Shelton, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa.

SCCF awards community grants of up to $6,000 each year, with seventeen awards given in the Story County community in 2017. More information on SCCF grants is available at www.storycountyfoundation.org.
