Michael Vogt to speak on “Military Records of Iowans Who Went to War”

The May Genealogy Plus! guest speaker, Michael Vogt, will present “Military Records of Iowans Who Went to War: Where to Find Them and What They Tell Us,” on May 16, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Ames Public Library. From the Civil War to recent conflicts, Iowans have served in the military. From enlistment to mustering out, there were records kept on each soldier. What are these records, what do they hold in information about the person and their service? Michael Vogt, Curator, Iowa Gold Star Museum, will talk about the records and the stories they tell and where they can be accessed.

The program is free and open to the public.
