Students shown here are from Mrs. McCormick’s fourth-grade class and Miss Pool’s third-grade class at Central Elementary. These students were planting trees last Wednesday — in honor of Earth Day — in front of the high school building. Every class in the elementary took part last week by planting a tree in various places throughout the community. The tree purchases were made possible through can collection donations the elementary received, a donation from Kiwanis Club in Nevada and by a huge grant from the Nevada School Foundation board. Country Landscapes was also a huge help, giving the elementary school a generous discount on trees and then calling in all the locates and digging all the holes before the plantings. In total, the elementary students planted 32 trees. Photos by Marlys Barker
