Cadet Major Nathan Dittmer, an ROTC cadet at the University of Iowa, is one of 10 cadets and Midshipman in Iowa to receive the Governor’s Award for Outstanding ROTC cadet. Nathan was recognized Wednesday, April 25, at the Iowa National Guard Headquarters in Johnston. The award was presented to him by Lt. Colonel Zachary J. Buettner, Professor of Military Science at the U of I. This award was started by General George Washington. Pictured with Nathan (center) as he received recognition, were (from left) the Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, Governor Kim Reynolds, and his parents, Bruce and Sandy of Nevada. Nathan will be commissioned as an officer in the Army on Friday, May 11. He will graduate from U of I on Saturday, May 12. He will begin employment as an assistant consultant with RSM in Denver, Colo., in July.
