The city of Nevada will hold a public forum on substance abuse next Thursday, March 22.
Called “Substance Abuse: A Community Conversation,” the event is meant to foster collaboration and conversation among all who have an interest in curbing substance abuse in Nevada.
“Substance abuse has been an ongoing topic of conversation, not only nationally, but locally as well,” asid Nevada Mayor Brett Barker. “We have countless groups in our community all working to combat this epidemic and provide services and support to those affected by substance abuse. My goal is to improve community and collaboration within our community on this topic.”
Invited to take part will be community leaders, health care professionals, law enforcement personnel, community service organizations and community members.
The format for the event, which will start at 6 p.m. at Gates Hall, will be an informal discussion. Those attending will learn about how Nevada has handled the opiod crisis so far, the community’s successes in the endeavor and the community’s challenges. Hopefully, those attending can help determine the next steps for the community.
A light supper and refreshments will be provided for those who attend. If you can make it, please RSVP to Mayor Barker at firstname.lastname@example.org.
