Candidates for Des Moines County attorney, recorder, treasurer and supervisor must submit their applications by March 28 at 5 p.m.

As of Tuesday, four candidates have submitted papers. New to the list are Lisa Schaefer, a former assistant county attorney running for county attorney, and Janelle Nalley-Londquist, who is running for re-election as county treasurer.

Laura Blanchard has resubmitted candidacy papers with the correct number of signatures. Blanchard is running for the Board of Supervisors seat currently occupied by Tom Broeker. Broeker previously told The Hawk Eye that he would run for re-election.

The county attorney's race is the only race with more than one candidate so far. County Attorney Amy Beavers submitted her bid for re-election last week. Beavers fired Schaefer during her first day on the job after winning election in November 2012. Both are Democrats.
