The Veterans Day program held on Friday, Nov. 10, at Colo-NESCO High School was organized by the CN student council, under the leadership of David Greenfield.

The Colo Legion Color Guard consisted of Gary French, Paul Heintz, Keith McKinney and Pat Peakin. Eighth-grader Andrew Grover led the Pledge of Allegiance. The national anthem was performed by the Colo-NESCO band and the CN choir sang the “Salute to the Armed Forces Medley,” directed by Hannah Hoefer and Bryan Ward, respectively. CN senior Spencer Short served as master of ceremonies.

Vietnam veteran Terry Guy, of rural Colo, was the guest speaker and was introduced by senior Sean Cutler. The FCS class made and presented a quilt to Terry and his wife, Kristi, at the conclusion of his speech. Pat Peakin of the Colo Legion had a presentation of his own with a book to Principal Brandon Kelley for the Colo-NESCO library. FCS instructor Kelsie Engelken and the CN foods class prepared and served a chicken noodle appreciation meal for the veterans in attendance following the ceremony. Photos by Sandy Cutler
