On Nov. 6, Nevada jazz bands are hosting a one day residency with ¡RITMOCANO! This is in conjunction with our Fall Jazz Night concert.
¡RITMOCANO! plays Latin jazz from the Americas and the Caribbean.
¡RITMOCANO! members are drawn from the highest ranks of Iowa’s jazz musicians, including Jim Dreier (drum set), Rich Medd (trombone), Dr. Damani Phillips (sax), Danny Oline (bass), Steve Shanley (piano), Ed East and Paul Cunliffe (percussion).
During the daytime residency, members of ¡RITMOCANO! will visit elementary music classrooms in the Nevada School District about Latin jazz music. Musicians will rehearse with the Nevada Middle School and Nevada High School jazz bands.
The highlight of the residency will take place on the Fall Jazz Night Concert on Monday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Josephine Tope Community Auditorium.
