At the Thursday, Sept. 14, ABWA meeting, Mayor Lynn Lathrop signed a document proclaiming Sept. 22 as a day to recognize the contributions of America’s working women. On Sept. 22, 1949, a Kansas City businessman, Hilary A. Bufton, Jr., realized the positive impact women were having on the American economy and founded the American Business Women’s Association, which has nationally awarded more than $15 million in women’s scholarships. The proclamation encourages all Nevada residents to recognize the significance of working women and for business owners to actively support these programs and endeavors.
