Francis W. “Bill” Heintz, formerly of Colo, is awarded a Quilt Of Valor by Unit #48 of the William F. Ball American Legion Auxiliary. Family and friends met to help acknowledge Bill’s four years of service, 1942-1946, in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an electrician for search lights on the East coast of the United States, motor patrol in New Guinea, stationed in Manila when the “bomb” was dropped, then served with the 784th Military Police in Tokyo, Japan. Heintz, now residing in Ames, has been a member of the Nevada American Legion for 24 years and he said he is honored to receive such a meaningful quilt. Photo Contributed
