Vince Olson was awarded his Quilt of Valor at the American Legion in Nevada on Sunday, Aug 13. The quilt was presented to Olson by his Legion Family. Olson served in the U.S. Army from April 1968 to November 1969. He was drafted into the service. After training, he was sent to Vietnam to join the 515th Transport Company. When he returned home, he worked trucking, over the road, for several years. He then worked with the Story County road crew and retired after 31 years. That left him time to do more driving and he drove a truck for Fareway until his real retirement age came around. Olson graduated from Nevada High School in 1967. He and his wife, Sheryl, raised three children and have close family ties. Photo Contributed
