Maxwell Old Settlers
This is the weekend of the annual Old Settlers Picnic in Maxwell. Saturday is the main day of the celebration, which features a parade in the morning, followed by lots of activities during the day, most located in the city park. There is no admission to the grounds.
Pushing Our Pedals…
This Saturday morning, Aug. 5, at 8 a.m. on the High Trestle Trail, residents are invited to join Charlie’s Angels for “Pushing Our Pedals for Charlie Fourth Annual Bike Ride.” All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Iowa Chapter to help fund research for a cure. Charlie Hugunin, almost 4-year-old daughter of Tim and Jenny Hugunin battles cystic fibrosis every day. This is a family ride. There will be homemade cinnamon rolls at kick off, 9 a.m. at the Flat Tire Lounge in Madrid. Lunch will be provided by Thrivent Heartland Team of Ames (free-will donation); silent auction. State Fair Parade
The Iowa State Fair Parade will be held in downtown Des Moines the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 9. For those who can’t make it there in person, Iowa Public Television announced that it will provide live coverage of the 2017 Iowa State Fair parade, which begins at 6:15 p.m. IPTV’s coverage will be from 7:30-9 p.m.
Free Movie Night
On Thursday, Aug. 10, it’s free movie night at The Talent Factory in Nevada, featuring the classic “State Fair.” Movie starts at 6:30 p.m. and concessions will be available.
